General Manager/Chief Operating Officer

Position Overview: The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) will be a highly experienced and strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of property management operations. The GM/COO will manage a complex and dynamic cooperative of substantial size and work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the effective management and quality of the organization.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and oversee all property operations with a focus on strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Ensure financial planning and reporting, and project management oversight are well executed by appropriate staff.
  • Supervise professional services, procurement, and contract negotiation processes.
  • Improve and maintain facilities infrastructure, and assure that public areas and grounds are maintained at a high level of attractiveness and cleanliness.
  • Engage with the community and residents to foster strong relationships and ensure satisfaction.
  • Drive all aspects of human resource management, including organizational structure, training, and talent recruitment, development, retention, and compensation.
  • Modernize and maintain financial and project management systems.
  • Maintain integrity in handling sensitive financial, contractual, and personnel information.


Key Qualifications:


  • Minimum ten years of direct experience in property management, with a strong preference for experience in large scale cooperative or condominium management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, real estate, management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in strategic planning, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, financial planning and budgeting, and project management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in financial and project management software and tools.
  • Unquestioned integrity and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Relevant certifications and active involvement in property management organizations.


Additional Experience:


  • Non-traditional property management roles, such as facilities management, hospitality management, or large-scale project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, elevate, and improve team performance.
  • Experience leading organizational change and driving innovation within complex environments.


Compensation and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications in the range of $140K - $220K, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and support for professional development and continuing education.
